What Makes a Premium Lager... Premium?
Walk down any supermarket aisle and you'll find shelves lined with "Italian", "Spanish" and "continental" lagers.
The branding conjures up Mediterranean beaches, bustling city squares and generations of brewing heritage.
But look a little closer and you'll often find many of these beers are actually brewed here in the UK under licence. There's nothing wrong with that, it's a common practice across the industry, but it does raise an interesting question:
What actually makes a lager premium?
For us, it's not the country printed on the can. It's the quality of the beer, the care that goes into brewing it, and the moments it's made to be enjoyed in.
No Shortcuts
Many mainstream lagers have quietly changed over the years. Alcohol content has fallen, ingredient lists have grown longer, and brewing has increasingly focused on consistency and efficiency.
You'll often find ingredients such as glucose syrup or hop extracts, and many brands now sit at lower ABVs than they once did.
These methods all have a place in modern brewing, but they weren't the route we wanted to take.
Instead, we focused on brewing a lager we'd be proud to put our name on.
Proudly Brewed in Britain
The Prem isn't pretending to be imported.
It isn't borrowing another country's identity.
It's a proper British premium lager, brewed by an independent brewery that's proud of where it's from.
We've taken inspiration from classic European lager traditions while creating something unmistakably our own.
Soft pilsner malt forms the backbone, Noble Saaz hops provide delicate herbal spice, and a late addition of Motueka brings a bright citrus lift before a crisp, clean finish.
No gimmicks.
No borrowed heritage.
Just a genuinely premium lager, brewed with care.
Premium Means More Than What's in the Glass
At GoldenDays, we've never believed beer should be the main event. The best beers are the ones that become part of a great day. The first sip after a long coastal run. A surf with mates, an evening around the fire pit. A pint after finally finishing that weekend project.
Those are the moments we brew for.
The Prem isn't designed to steal the spotlight. It's designed to fit effortlessly into the moments you'll remember.
Crisp enough to quench your thirst. Balanced enough to enjoy pint after pint. Crafted with just enough character to remind you you're drinking something special.
Because premium isn't just about ingredients.
It's about slowing down.
Getting outside.
Putting the phone away.
Making memories with the people around you.
Earning the moment.
Then sitting back with a beer that's Best Served Once Earned.
Whether you've just finished a 10K, spent the afternoon surfing, explored somewhere new or simply made the most of a sunny Saturday, The Prem is brewed for those moments.
Not because it's imported.
Not because it's marketed as premium.
But because it belongs at the end of a day well spent.
That's the GoldenDays way.
